Player of the Week: Brenden Sander

Brenden Sander came out on top of the VolleyMetrics Player of the Week Ratings for the second time this season. Sander, a 6’4 sophomore outside hitter from Huntington Beach, California, helped BYU win two straight sweeps against CSUN this past weekend. As seen below, Sander outperformed the league average in each category, except for digging.

The AVCA Player of the Week was David Grandy from Erskine. The 6’4 senior setter led Erskine to two sweep victories over Belmont Abbey and Mount Olive this weekend, while handing out 87 assists with zero errors.

Although it is hard to compare the two players because their positions are so different, both had incredible weeks. Sander hit a remarkable .632 over the weekend, while averaging a 13.0 K/E ratio for both matches while recording six block assists and nine digs over his two matches against the #12 team in the country. #2 BYU will look to continue their dominance over their opponents by trying to extend their 10-game sweep streak as they head to #7 Hawaii.
